Summer 2004

I've finished the pictures for the Irish-language children's picture book Dhá Chluas Capaill ar Labhraí Loingseach! (Which means: Larry Loingseach's Got Two Horse's Ears! in English.) Eithne Ní Ghallcobhair from Donegal wrote the text.

It's a retelling of an old Irish folk tale about a king, Larry Loingseach, who has a terrible secret (his horse's ears!) The green-faced fellow above is the "widow's son" sick with not being able to tell anyone the secret.

The building on the left is the local druid's residence. The two sample pages below show the king's harpist heading into the wood in search of material for a new harp.

The second sample page shows the widow's son encountering a willow tree in the same wood. The handsome woman on the left here is his mother.I hope to have more news about publication soon....

I did this ink drawing for Jeremy Donaldson´s interesting and fast-expanding collection of science- fiction fantasy art all of which is on 26x45 pieces of card. He has a website here.
The illustration I did of Hugo award winning story And The Dog Said Bow Wow by American SF author Michael Swanwick can now be seen on the author´s website here.

fuinneog an lae
Here´s a design I did for an art glass project that, sadly, isn´t going to be going ahead. The venture was going to be called fuinneog an lae, which means the morning light in Irish Gaelic, but can also be read literally as "day window" or "window of day".....
