Here's a design I did for an art glass project that, sadly, isn´t going to be going ahead. The venture was going to be called fuinneog an lae, which means "morning light" in Irish Gaelic, but can also be read literally as "day window" or "window of day".....

The second sample page shows the widow's son encountering a willow tree in the same wood. The handsome woman on the left here is his mother.I hope to have more news about publication soon....
It's a retelling of an old Irish folk tale about a king, Larry Loingseach, who has a terrible secret (his horse's ears!) The green-faced fellow above is the "widow's son" sick with not being able to tell anyone the secret.

The building on the left is the local druid's residence. The two sample pages below show the king's harpist heading into the wood in search of material for a new harp.

The "Certificate" on the left-hand side is part of a new project where I write a short story and then illustrate it for someone based on their interests. The finished product is then presented along with a humourous "certificate". I've made a homepage for the project, which I'm calling "Donal Casey - Original illustrated stories", and it can be seen here...

I was in Madrid recently and visited the art school, Escuela Superior de Dibujo Profesional (ESDIP), where I studied illustration and computer graphics for three years. After my visit the school put some of my pictures (including these two) on the ESDIP website gallery. To view you have to go to the main page here and then click on the word "Galería" .....
